Every Halloween, the town’s kids psyched themselves for a trip to the famous haunted Carter Mansion. They insisted a witch named Hazel resided there. Debra, the rational, award-winning science geek, decided she’ll debunk their myths this year.
Dressed in an adorable Mad Scientist getup, Debra marched up to the mansion. She pushed the creaky doors and stepped in, dismissing strange sounds as tricks of the wind. Following a flickering light, she tumbled upon Hazel’s alleged chamber.
To her surprise, Hazel, the witch, was indeed real but not at all as the horrifying tale-teller as she had been painted. Debra found her sitting amidst fairy-lit decorations, dipping apples in caramel and smiling warmly.
“Ah, a visitor! Apple?”. Debra accepted, and they bonded over science and magic, busting her own myth as they laughed and shared stories.
This Halloween, Carter Mansion wasn’t feared but celebrated as the coolest haunt in town. And the surprising twist? Our rational Debra began apprenticing under Hazel, becoming the town’s first Sci-Witch, rocket launching caramelled-apples for the kids!
