Once upon a Halloween night in Creepyville, ten-year-old Timmy Tooth was dared by his friends to knock on Old Man Jenkins’ spooky, creaky door. The house was notorious for its eerie, howling noises that kept the neighbourhood kids wide-eyed and trembled under their blankets.
The dare made Timmy’s knees shake but he showed his bravado, knocked thrice, and waited. Suddenly, the old wooden door creaked open. Old Man Jenkins, with his ghostly pale face and crackling voice, stared down at Timmy and inquired about his late-night visit.
“Trick or treat, sir!” Timmy stuttered, extending his little pumpkin bucket. With a sardonic chuckle, Old Man Jenkins fetched a gigantic peanut butter cup, Timmy’s absolute favourite, and dropped it in his bucket.
Timmy, smeared in bravery, joy and surprise, ran back to his friends, waving his prized Halloween treat. After that night, Old Man Jenkins’ house became the most popular trick or treating stop, not for the thrill, but for his legendary peanut butter cup.
As for Old Man Jenkins, he continued to keep his secret, that the mystical howls were nothing more than his old, squeaky rocking chair and a hearty love for peanut butter cups!
