Once upon a time in the quaint little town of Fallbrook, everyone looked forward to the event of the year – Halloween. Amongst this Halloween-loving populace was little Mischievous Max – a boy brimming with pranks.
On this eerie night, Max planned his masterpiece – The Haunted House. His setup gave even the bravest a cold shiver. He chuckled as he watched everyone scamper in fear, except for one old lady, Granny Gracie.
She was a sprightly woman, loved by everyone, but often considered a bit eccentric. Everyone knew Granny Gracie loved Halloween, but she never showcased it.
As the day was about to end, Granny Gracie walked into Max’s Haunted House. To his surprise, she walked out scot-free, without a shiver, with a peculiar smile on her face.
She took Max’s hand, led him to her home and to his amazement, presented her Halloween surprise – the grandest, spookiest setup he had ever seen!
Surprised, Max exclaimed, “Why did you hide this, Granny?” She chuckled and replied, “Sometimes, the best trick of all is treating yourself!”. And so, in Fallbrook, every Halloween became a secret competition between Mischievous Max and Granny Gracie.
