Once upon a time, in a small town named Vertigo, heavy fog hung in the air as Halloween approached. Streets were glistening with damp orange and cherry leaves under the eerie glow of stooped lampposts. Doggedly, young Billy crafted his costume with unmatched enthusiasm, aiming to be the spookiest specter at the town’s parade.
Billy wasn’t known as a daredevil, yet he decided to venture to the infamous haunted Abigail Mansion for costume inspiration. Heart pounding like a wild rabbit’s, Billy pushed open the creaky door. He was greeted by nothing but chilling silence. Suddenly, out of the corner of his eye, he noticed a magnificent cape of silver threads and moth-eaten black velvet. It was perfect!
Enveloped in the cape, Billy was the star of the parade, and all admired his eeriness. Only after the parade did he notice an embroidered message inside the cape: “Return before midnight, or stay a specter forever”. Giggling at the silly note, Billy didn’t heed the warning.
Well, here’s a kicker, dear readers – after midnight, Billy evaporated into the foggy mist. Legend says, each Halloween, you can spot him, still donned in his cape, a silent specter overseeing Vertigo’s parade.
