Once upon an october’s eve, the curious and brave children of Maplewood decided they would venture into the notorious and spooky Miller Mansion. Many a neighborhood tale claimed it to be haunted by the ghost of old Missus Miller.
They dared each other, armed with only a flashlight and their childhood courage. As the sun set and the moon took command, the mansion seemed to grow bigger and eerier. The brave children came one by one, crossing the creaky gate, their hearts echoed in their ears, louder and faster.
Inside the mansion was an old antique vanity. The daring children decided to explore it, something instantly caught their attention. An old sepia-toned photograph of Missus Miller holding a black cat. In the mirror’s reflection, they saw not themselves, but an ethereal white image of Missus Miller and a feline.
With a swift flicker of the juvenile torch, Missus Miller’s spectral figure moved. The kids gasped, not out of fear, but out of joy, as Mrs. Miller’s ghost gave them a friendly wave.
The tale ends not with a scare but with an unexpected twist. For the ghost of Missus Miller was not chilling after all, but a Halloween fan just like the kids, all along!
