“The Legend of Pumpkinville: The Haunting of Ebenezer Manor”

Every Halloween, in the quiet town of Pumpkinville, children eagerly awaited dusk, donning their ghostly costumes, ready to fill their bags with candies. Only one place was avoided on this tempting night – the eerie old mansion at the end of Elm Street. An unspoken rule echoed amongst the kids, “Never trick or treat at the haunted house.”

One adventurous little boy, Timmy, decided to break this rule. Boldly, he marched towards the chilling mansion, with an off kilter sign swinging in the bitter night air that read ‘Ebenezer Manor’. Entering, he was met by an old man, with a comforting smile and tired eyes. Offering Timmy some homemade candies, he warned, “Eat them before midnight, or they’ll turn into pumpkin seeds!”

At midnight, Timmy, now safely at home, remembering the old man’s words, quickly popped the last candy into his mouth, only to find it crunching like a pumpkin seed. Next morning, he woke up with an insatiable craving for pumpkins!

And hence, it became the legend of Pumpkinville, that anybody who disobeyed the rule would turn into the Pumpkin King for a day. And that’s how Pumpkinville got its name, and its fervor for pumpkin pies!
