One chilly Halloween night in the quiet town of Hangman’s Hollow, young Timmy Tumbleweed was headed home carrying a bucket full of candy, a product of his successful trick-or-treating. His path home was via the gloomy, creaky old Kittredge Mansion, known from his friends at school for being haunted.
As he approached the mansion, a strange glow emanated from the windows, sending shivers down his spine. He debated whether to face the spooky mansion or take a longer, safer route home. Eventually, his love for adventure took over.
Quietly, he pushed the door open & stepped inside. To his surprise, it was lively with ghoulishly delightful characters, seemingly in hosting a grand party. Various enigmatic creatures passed him by, some psyching him out, then they’d simply vanish into thin air.
Up the grand staircase, in the master bedroom, he was drawn towards a dusty old painting. Strangely, the portrait resembled him! It was a portrait of Timothy the Brave, a brave young lad who had saved the town from a disaster, 100 years ago.
Timmy ran home, shaken but enlightened. His Halloween adventure had given him an unusual candy – a tale to remember. His family was gobsmacked at the story as they tucked him to bed. However, it wasn’t until the next morning till they truly gasped. Timmy had woken up with a century-old locket in his pocket, the same one from the portrait, the same one belonging to Timothy the Brave.
And so, every Halloween, people talked about the night Timmy Tumbleweed found his doppelganger hero. Not to forget, the first rule of Hangman’s Hollow emerged – ‘The Kittredge Mansion isn’t haunted. It just hosts the best Halloween party… in the past.’
