On an eerie Halloween night, in the hamlet of Grimsforge, young Freddy was courageously traipsing through the haunted Baker’s mansion.
Freddy, the son of the town’s librarian, bristled with excitement and courage, holding a single lit candle, his only defense against the mansion’s supernatural inhabitants.
According to lore, a ghastly and cheeky ghost, known as Spooky Jake, resided there. This mischievous apparition was known for his love of riddles and challenges bravest villagers to solve them every Halloween.
Without hesitation, Freddy stepped forward, riddle book in hand, ready to outwit Spooky Jake. An eerie voice echoed then, “Answer my riddle or flee in fear: What creature, Halloween dear, wears a mask all year?”
Conspicuous fear replaced courage for a moment. But Freddy, remembering the stories about Spooky Jake’s sense of humor, grinned widely and retorted, “Why, the answer is plain, it’s us humans during a quarantine!”
A loud, ghoulish laughter echoed through the mansion. Suddenly, Spooky Jake appeared, applauding and saying, “Foolish humans finally caught my jest! So, same time next year for the rest?”
Thus, Freddy outwitted Spooky Jake, forging an unexpected and enduring bond, and making every Halloween a thrilling anticipation in Grimsforge!
