Once, in the quaint town of Petternick, there lived a Scarecrow named Skully. Funny for a scarecrow, Skully’s favorite holiday, of course, was Halloween. Every year, he’d become the centerpiece of the town’s Halloween shenanigans; children ran around his post, giggling, even as their faces were painted with fear.
This year, though, something strange happened. On the stroke of midnight before Halloween, Skully wasn’t on his post. The town woke up to the sight of an empty field, the post bereft of its eerie occupant. A collective worry swept through Petternick, dampening the Halloween excitement.
The day wore on, with children darting fearfully past the empty post. Halloween wasn’t the same without Skully. Where could he be?
As night fell, a lone figure was spotted sauntering towards the town. Cloaked in moonlight, a pumpkin-head high above its shoulders, Skully had returned home. But then, something surprising ensued! Skully stepped off the post, handing out treats to the wide-eyed children. The town observed, mouths agape, as Skully proved to be not just a spooky scarecrow, but the kindest resident of Petternick. So, that Halloween, laughter rang louder than screams, surprising both the town and Skully, who was quite unused to such merriment.
And thus, every Halloween, Petternick waits not in fear, but in eager anticipation. For, what will Skully do next? No one knows, but everyone looks forward to finding out!
