Legend has it that every Halloween, the withered old tree next door comes to life. However, unlike ordinary trees, this one doesn’t bear fruit; instead, it gifted the town with peculiar items.
This Halloween, as the moon bathed the world in a pearly glow, something extraordinary occurred. The tree started to tremble, its branches swaying as if dancing in the wind. A bright light appeared, and from within came a beautiful object, dazzlingly illuminated.
The townsfolk gathered, eying the glittering jewel with awe. The mayor promptly picked it up, announcing that it was a diamond worth millions! The town was euphoric; this was the most extravagant gift yet. Plans were made to sell the diamond and enrich the town.
The next day, the excited mayor took the gem to a renowned appraiser who, after scrutinizing it, pulled off his glasses and announced with a solemn face that the diamond was, in fact, a beautifully painted glass piece – worthless.
Eyes wide, the mayor remembered a painted pumpkin left under the tree. The townsfolk laughed as they realized, they’d been bamboozled by a tree, proving once again – all that glitters on Halloween night is not always gold.
