Once upon a not so cheery Halloween night in the small, quiet town of Langley, a bright and whimsical pumpkin was placed outside Miss Havisham’s haunted house. A chilling wind whispered tales of the unknown, rustling the autumn leaves on the front lawn.
The pumpkin had a peculiar carving, with big, bulbous eyes and a grin that stretched ear to ear…if pumpkins had ears. As the moonlight spilled over its cheery Halloween face, it seemed to wink at every child who dared to approach the old Havisham house for trick or treating.
Little Jemima, the bravest of the trick-or-treaters ventured forward, her bright green witch hat bobbing in the eerie moonlight. With bag in hand, she bravely knocked on the creaky, old door of the Havisham house. Instead of the expected “Boo”, a small note popped out from the Pumpkin’s grinning mouth.
With eyes round as saucers, she plucked the note from Pumpkin’s mouth, reading it aloud, “I am not a décor, I’m old Miss Havisham, forever caught in a pumpkiny prison, here to offer treats not mischief!”. And just like that, a shower of candies flew out from the pumpkin, leaving a stunned Jemima, awe-struck spectators and a grinning Miss Havisham! Now, how’s that for a Halloween treat?
