Every Halloween, in the town of Whiskerville, there was an ancient house that was rumored to be haunted by ‘Charlie the Catman.’ Charlie, once a grumpy old hermit, had a peculiar affinity for cats. Legend had it that one Halloween night many years ago, Charlie morphed into a half-human, half-feline creature when his beloved black cat, Broomstick, was possessed by a ghost.
Halloween night was the time when Charlie was believed to appear, meowing eerily around town. This year, the new kid, Timmy, was dared to visit Charlie’s old, decrepit house to prove he was valiant. Trembling with fear, Timmy advanced towards the spooky house as the town kids watched from a distance.
As he reached the door, it creaked open. He pushed it and entered, expecting the worst. He looked around and gazed at the worn-out portraits of Charlie and his beloved cat. The house seemed sadly ordinary, except for the faint meow.
Just when Timmy was about to leave, a black cat sprung from nowhere. Timmy gulped. But wait, the cat was chubby, cute, and friendly. Realizing it was just an ordinary cat, Timmy stroked its fur, laughing, as the town kids, peeping from the window, witnessed their ‘ghost’ purr with contentment!
So, the spook of Whiskerville wasn’t a specter after all, but the ghost of Charlie? Nah! Just a friendly, chubby cat, Broomstick, waiting for his annual Halloween cuddle.
