Our tale begins on a Halloween night, in the creaky, antique boutique found near the city square. Within its gloomy construct, an incredibly peculiar jack-o’-lantern is on display at the front window.
It was said to be carved by a whimsical, yet forgotten, local artist whose mischevious grin mirrored that of his pumpkin creation. A legend circulated suggesting that the pumpkin bore a spell, enticing every trick-or-treater into a jovial trance during the witching hour.
Like clockwork, kids would dare each other to glance at the jack-o’-lantern at the strike of the midnight hour. This Halloween was no different. Two brave hearts, Timmy and Jenny, accepted the challenge.
As the town clock struck twelve, they shuddered, their eyes fixated on the glowing pumpkin. Suddenly, a surprise, the pumpkin’s grin grew wider, and out sprang… handfuls of candy!
An old town myth was revealed to be a clever trick by the boutique owner, who’d rigged the jack-o’-lantern with a timed candy dispenser. The bewitched pumpkin wasn’t haunted; it was a sweet treat dispenser, a well-guarded secret that ensured his shop remained the most popular – and spookiest – every Halloween!
