As the chilling wind danced with falling leaves, young Billy tightened his pirate costume and set off for some Halloween adventure. Houses draped in spooky elegance were as inviting as ever. He rang doorbell after doorbell, “Trick or Treat!” echoing through the night.
There was one house; however, standing solemn at the far end of the street. It was known as the “Grim Grange,” a reputed haunted mansion that gave everyone the heebie-jeebies. Billy, an adventurer, decided to conquer his fears.
Upon stepping inside, creepy portraits stared from the walls while the floors creaked beneath his pirate boots. He heard whispering sounds and followed them to a room with a big, rusty iron chest.
He found the courage to lift the lid. Suddenly, the whispers started to laugh — like a crowd of jolly old men. The chest was filled not with ghostly remains, but with heaps of candy — an absolute Halloween treasure!
“Trick or Treat!” the laughing whispers echoed. Then, Billy realized the “haunted” Grim Grange was never haunted at all. It was simply a funhouse set up by the older townsfolk, playing tricks while providing the most generous treats!
