On a chilly October night, a group of kids named Tommy, Eliza, and Max decided to test their bravery with a daring visit to the old, rundown Baker Mansion, famous in their town for its Halloween hauntings. Dressed in their Halloween best, their laughter echoed into the darkness as they playfully dared one another to ring the rusty doorbell.
With a shaky hand, brave little Tommy reached out and pushed the bell. Suddenly, the ancient mansion roared to life — every creak and groan of the house was magnified, the lights flickered, and thunderous footsteps could be heard within.
The kids stood frozen, their earlier bravado lost amid the eerie shadows of the haunted mansion.
As the heavy doors creaked open, they were ready to bolt. But instead of a ghost or goblin, out stepped little old Miss Baker wearing a pink sponge curler in her hair and holding a fluffy white cat. She cooed, “Oh, kiddos, I’m glad you rang. I’ve been waiting all night for Trick or Treaters. Please, have some homemade cookies.”
Off they went, swiftly with their treats and spooky tale of the night. They knew nobody would ever believe the mansion’s only ghost was a sweet old lady with a cat and a generous supply of cookies!
