When the odd-ball scientist, toggle-eyed Barney Bumblebee, unearthed an ancient lantern from an old attic, strange things began to happen. The once quiet old town of Sleepy Meadows had suddenly become the hubbub of spooktacular happenings. The old folks exchanged hush whispers, children dared each other to go near Barney’s house, even the boldest cat in town avoided the once favorite cherry tree.
It was Halloween night when he decided to light the lantern, believing it would solely serve as a decoration. But as the first ray of light escaped the lantern, the ordinary pumpkin he had carved turned into a cackling Jack-o’-Lantern. His hand trembled in fear as the Jack-o’-Lantern began its mischief, rearranging furniture, spooking the Mayor, and turning sparrows into bats.
Barney boldly decided to confront the mischievous pumpkin. Pulling out an oversized glasses, Barney stared at the smiling face. Suddenly, he burst into laughter. It was only the town’s joker Jake, trapped inside the pumpkin, conducting a clever prank. Barney blew out the lantern, turned Jake into his regular self, and the cheers of relief echoed around Sleepy Meadows. Halloween that year was remembered both haunting and hilarious, dubbed as ‘The Year When a Pumpkin Pranked.’
