Title: “The Legend of the Weeping Pumpkin: A Halloween Whimsy”

“My darling, look at this pumpkin’s cute smile!” Marie, holding a freshly carved Halloween pumpkin, called out to her husband with a huge grin.

Being a local sculptor, Tom, her husband, mastered the art of carving art pieces. This year, his task was to perfect the pumpkin’s mischievously twisted smile that their daughter, Lisa, loved.

The Halloween night arrived, and the pumpkin was placed on their porch. Children gathered around their doorsteps, laughing, trick-or-treating. Suddenly, there was a cry, “The Pumpkin! It’s crying!”

Everyone turned around, gasping. A steady stream of liquid trickled down the pumpkin’s face, almost as if it were sobbing. The wax candles inside couldn’t produce such a flow.

Fast forward to midnight, Tom decided to investigate this mysterious crying pumpkin. He drilled a small hole and yelped, “It’s apple juice!”

He remembered carving an apple for Lisa to take to school that day but couldn’t find it later. Piecing the mystery together, he laughed. Lisa, who was watching all this and chuckling confessed, “Daddy, I playfully hid the apple inside the pumpkin!”

And that’s how it came to be, the legend of the Weeping Pumpkin on Halloween night, who wasn’t actually haunted, rather just stuffed with an apple and full of whimsy.
