Every Halloween, the children of Elm street were over the moon as they gathered for trick-or-treat on the ghoulish night. This year, things took a strange turn. A new neighbor, old man Higgins, who lived in the haunted mansion was finally taking part, only adding more mystery to the haunted mansion legend.
Nervously, they approached the creaky gates and rusty door of the mansion. Bold little Timmy knocked, and the door slowly opened. Out came old man Higgins, not appearing as haunting as the rumors made him seem.
“Trick-or-treat!” they chimed, eyes wide with fear masked with exhilaration. Surprisingly, Higgins smiled and pulled out a pumpkin. Not conventional candy but from the looks of it, the most beautifully carved pumpkin any child had ever seen.
“Treat it well, it may treat you well too,” Higgins warned, his voice eerily cheerful. They left, puzzled but thrilled with their unusual treat.
Returning home, they placed it on the window sill. As midnight struck, the pumpkin began to glow, transforming from an ordinary pumpkin to a sparkling gold! It wasn’t the haunted mansion that held the secrets, but old man Higgins who had the Midas touch!
