On a typically crisp Halloween evening, a boisterous group of children took a shortcut through the creepy, old Holloway house, known by all in the neighborhood as haunted. Donning their eccentric costumes, they dared each other to knock the door and summon the ghoul. As the bravest kid moved forward, an eerie silence fell over her companions.
Hesitant, she knocked, not once but thrice. Suddenly, the ancient door squeakily opened, on its own. They swiftly backed away, except the brave girl. Heart pounding, she took a step inside. The smell of old wood and mystery filled her lungs.
Strange, dark shadows danced on the cobwebbed walls, giving her the chills. A faint, ghostly voice whispered, “Find the hidden treasure.” Intrigued, she followed the voice to a dilapidated bookshelf and pulled out a dusty, old book. She opened it to discover a hidden switch.
As the switch was flipped, the house rumbled, and a hidden door uncloaked itself, revealing a chest. She opened the chest, expecting gold but, found a heap of candy bars!
It turned out, the ghost was just the old man Holloway, who loved playing tricks on children. The haunted house reputation he started was perfect for his cinematic entrance and a laughter filled Halloween treat!
