“The Legend of Old Mabel’s Soup Kitchen”

Once upon a full moon, on the edge of town, a spooky house teetered, abandoned and forgotten. Rumors of its haunting echoed among the townfolk. Little Timmy, a daring lad, decided to test his nerve on Halloween’s eve.

As Timmy swung open the creaky front door, a chill breeze brushed his frightened face. The house was dreadfully dark and filled with muffled whispers that sent shivers down his spine. But Timmy, driven by courage, delved deeper.

Stumbling through the darkness, he found himself standing before a large door. With a deep breath, he slowly pushed it open. A weird glow lit up the room, revealing an old woman hovering over a boiling pot.

“Boo!” the old woman shrieked, cackling wildly. Never had Timmy run so fast, bellowing all the way home.

The next morning, with a shaky laugh, he retold his terror, omitting no detail. To his surprise, the adults only burst into laughter, barely able to contain their mirth.

“That’s Old Mabel,” they gasped. “She’s been missing Halloween for years, whips up soup to give trick-or-treaters. But no one’s brave enough to collect!” The legendary haunted house, forevermore, simply became Old Mabel’s Soup Kitchen.
