“Once upon a Halloween night, a little ghost named Spooky was feeling particularly feisty. He lived in the oldest house on Creaky Street – a much-dreaded but never visited haunt. Spooky’s one wish was to have a friend, and this Halloween he decided to step out of the shadows to make that friend.
Down the lane, Lucy – a spirited, seven-year-old was trick or treating. She had heard stories about the house at the end of Creaky Street, but she wasn’t scared. Drawing courage from her witch costume and candy-filled jack-o-lantern basket, she dared to knock on Spooky’s door.
Answering with an ominous creak, Spooky spotted Lucy’s bright eyes and smiling face. For a moment, he forgot he was a ghost and said, “Hello!” with a bit too much enthusiasm. Lucy jumped, her basket flew, scattering candies on the floor but surprisingly, she did not scream.
Instead, she said, “Gotcha! All the other kids were too scared to come here. So, I decided to play a trick on you, the ghost! Now, how about we share those treats? It’s Halloween after all!”
And that’s how Spooky the ghost found his first friend in Lucy. Sometimes, it takes a little courage and a well-planned trick to turn a haunted house into a playground of Halloween delight.
