On a brisk Halloween night, our hero, Billy, found himself gazing at the infamous Clawsby Manor. Legend said that every year, at precisely midnight, its former eccentric owner, Mr. Clawsby would rise from the grave to search for his lost Zirconium diamond.
Clearly, Billy thought the story was nonsense. But rumors of the diamond’s worth could send his beloved dog, Pudge, to a much-needed surgery. So, he ventured into the creepy mansion, bracing himself for any challenge.
The clock struck midnight. Almost immediately, every object in the manor seemed to whir and shake. Sickly green light illuminated a figure – surprisingly, not spooky – Mr. Clawsby.
Billy shivered but declared his purpose. Mr. Clawsby seemed amused, “The diamond you seek lies in…” Suddenly, a scratchy bark interrupted him. Turning around, Billy saw Pudge, tail wagging, holding a glowing diamond in his mouth.
Elated, Billy thanked Mr. Clawsby and left. As the dawn came, Clawsby Manor sunk back into its usual decrepit appearance, leaving the town with an all-new Halloween legend – Billy, the dog, and the Zirconium diamond.
And they say cats have nine lives, well, perhaps dogs possess nine fortunes!
